Pay at property: when to offer it and how to reduce no-shows

Letting guests pay at the hotel can lift bookings. Here is how to offer it safely, with card guarantees and clear wording.

Many guests prefer to pay at the hotel. In some markets it is simply expected. Offering pay at property can lift direct bookings — if you manage no-show risk.

Two ways to offer it

  • Card guarantee — the card is saved securely and only charged if the guest does not show, under the plan’s cancellation policy.
  • No card — the guest reserves with their details only. Best for trusted segments and lower-risk dates.

Choose the right plans

Offer pay at property on flexible plans and keep prepaid plans for peak dates. Minimum-stay and closed-to-arrival rules in ARI Studio help protect busy nights.

Use clear words

Guests should know nothing was charged today. Confirmation pages and emails should say so plainly, and your front desk should know to collect.
